The Sisters Behind the Lens  - Val & Michelle

Hello, I’m Val! I’d like to tell you a little about myself and Michelle, my sister and business partner. My journey with photography began when I first picked up a camera in high school and never really put it down. With a college background in studio photography and photojournalism, I launched Life Illustrated Photography. Focused on capturing authentic, unscripted stories I had a mantra of no props and simple settings for timeless photographs.

The Studio Experience

After two decades behind the lens, I have since traded the unpredictability of the outdoors for the control of the studio. Together with Michelle, we have opened a fully curated indoor studio designed to replicate that effortless, organic glow without the constraints of weather, wind, or harsh sun.

We specialize exclusively in indoor studio sessions. By moving away from outdoor shoots and natural light, we are able to provide a temperature-controlled environment where the lighting is always flawless and the focus remains entirely on you.

Our Partnership

Michelle’s background is the heart of our partnership. An artist by training and a former NICU respiratory therapist by trade, she brings a gentle, "baby whisperer" touch to every session, ensuring even our youngest subjects are comfortable and safe.
